L'art de la fugue by Brice Cauvin with Agnes Jaoui, Benjamin Biolay will be released in June 2014

Finally there's a release date for L'art de la fugue directed by Brice Cauvin, starring Agnes Jaoui, Laurent Lafitte, Guy Marchand, Benjamin Biolay, that's been shot it more than two years ago. According to Zelig Film Distribution site the movie will be released in June 2014.

Co-written by Cauvin and Raphaëlle Desplechin (with Jaoui acting as consultant), the script centres on Antoine (Lafitte): his job as a tour operator, his partner with whom he is planning to buy a house, his colleague and friend Ariel (Jaoui), his brothers the neurotic Gérard and engaged-to-be-married Louis, his father with a heart condition and his cantankerous mother… Everything is going well, but nothing is right: he doesn’t want the house, Gérard can’t get over his ex-wife, Louis is cheating on his wife-to-be… And Ariel sweeps through this little world like a hurricane. Adept at the "art of finding a way out", Antoine will have to make a decision…

 À l’occasion du Cycle « Cinéma français et chansons » (3 avril-3 juin 2013), François Thomas a étudié les archives de la scripte Sylvette Baudrot afin d’analyser l’évolution du choix des chansons dans On connaît la chanson (1997), le film d’Alain Resnais écrit par Agnès Jaoui et Jean-Pierre Bacri, scénaristes et comédiens d'"On connaît la chanson"Les archives de Sylvette Baudrot le laissent deviner, le choix des extraits que les comédiens d’On connaît la chanson interprètent en play-back sur la voix de chanteurs célèbres est loin d’avoir été figé d’emblée. L’entreprise n’allait pas de soi : trouver de courts fragments de chansons qui s’intègrent à la courbe dramatique du scénario, qui soient stimulants pour le metteur en scène et sa troupe et dont la société de production puisse obtenir les droits. À lire entre les lignes les déclarations publiées du réalisateur et des scénaristes, on sait que les critères de sélection ont fait débat.
