 Bacri et Jaoui, un couple qui a construit le cinéma français

Agnès Jaoui et Jean-Pierre Bacri ont formé un des couples les plus connus du cinéma français. En couple à la ville, ils ont souvent joué ensemble dans des films dont ils étaient aussi les auteurs comme Cuisine et dépendances en 1993, Un air de famille en 1996, On connaît la chanson en 1997, Le goût des autres en 2000, ou plus récemment Au bout du conte sorti en 2013. Leurs films sont pour moi des incontournables du cinéma français. Le plus saisissant est l’humanité des personnages : avec Bacri et Jaoui, on est loin des héros américains conventionnels avec leurs grandes valeurs (famille, liberté, nation…) et leurs failles. Es ist ein Märchenfilm, ein Boulevardstück und eine Gesellschaftskomödie in einem: der Streifen "Unter dem Regenbogen - Ein Frühjahr in Paris". Die beiden Autoren Agnès Jaoui und Jean-Pierre Bacri sprechen über ihren leichtfüßigen Film. 

 Märchen enden oft mit einer Moral, so nach dem Motto "Ende gut, alles gut". Das ist auch hier so, und doch ist da einiges verschoben. Geschliffene, oft ätzend-brillante Dialoge, skurrile, für die Akteure oft peinliche, aus dem Leben gegriffene Situationen. Das zeichnet das Werk von Agnès Jaoui aus, die von Kritikern auch als "Woody Allen Frankreichs" bezeichnet wird. Die Drehbuchautorin und Regisseurin, die auch Regie führt, und der Co-Autor Jean-Pierre Bacri spielen in dem Film selbst mit.

 Christian Fillitz: Ihr Film ist eine Art amoralisches Märchen. Kann man das so sagen? Agnès Jaoui: Amoralisch?

UniFrance tries its hand at distributing in the US 

 "Los Angeles, New York, Sacramento, Dallas, San Diego, Bloomington, Fairfax, Gig Harbor, Honolulu and Las Vegas: as of yesterday, and up until 5 June, six French feature films are showing at Galaxy multiplexes in ten American cities. This operation, which is unprecedented inasmuch as these films do not have a distributor in the USA, is the result of a partnership between the American movie-theatre circuit and UniFrance, the organisation in charge of promoting French cinema worldwide.....

  I'm going to take an educated guess that you've already read Part 1 of this take on eight creative partnerships in French cinema and you're here to read about the remaining four couples, so what are we waiting for:

 Agnes Jaoui and Jean-Pierre Bacri met in 1987 whilst rehearsing Harold Pinter’s L’Anniversaire (The Birthday Party) and both realised more or less at once that they were compatible both creatively and personally. They formed a relationship - some sources indicate that they did in fact marry - that endures to this day (although again there have been recent rumours of a split) and has so far produced two stage playsand eight screenplays (including film adaptations of the stage plays). Initially they were content merely to write a play/screenplay together and then appear in leading roles, but eventually Jaoui assumed a third role, that of director, making their partnership the only one of the eight classified as Directress-Actor rather than Director-Actress....To read all the analysis click here

Wir reden und schreiben
Agnes Jaoui über “Unter dem Regenbogen” und ihre Zusammenarbeit mit Jean-Pierre Bacri 

 ....Wie früh im Schreibprozess wissen Sie, welche Figuren Sie und Jean-Pierre verkörpern werden?
Wir zögern immer ein wenig, versuchen es immer mit einer anderen Rolle, aber eigentlich wissen wir es früh.

 Und wie arbeiten Sie beide überhaupt zusammen?
Wie ein klassisches Autorenduo, das in einem Raum sitzt und sich die Bälle gegenseitig zuwirft? Wir sitzen in einem Raum auf dem Sofa, mit Notizbuch und Stift, wir reden und schreiben.


 Wegen der Symmetrien erinnerte mich der Film an Alain Resnais’ „Smoking/No Smoking“, für den Sie und Jean-Pierre Bacri seinerzeit das Drehbuch geschrieben haben. In Deutschland war das das erste Mal, dass man Ihre Arbeit wahrnahm. Hat sich Ihr Interesse an Symmetrien aus Resnais’ Film entwickelt oder ist das etwas, was Sie schon zuvor im Theater erprobt hatten?
Die Symmetrie ist ein sehr filmisches Mittel, aber auch auf dem Theater sehr beliebt. Darüber haben Jean-Pierre und ich des öfteren Diskussionen – ich liebe das sehr. Hier habe ich viel mit Realität und Fantasie gespielt und - dank Resnais und Stephen Sondheims „Into the Woods“.  ...En la presentación posterior a la proyección la directora, que interpreta también a uno de los personajes de la cinta, ha reconocido que la suya, frente a la que traslada, por ejemplo, el cine norteamericano, es una visión distinta de la vida que, de alguna manera, expresa sus dudas sobre la posibilidad, por ejemplo, de querer a una sola persona toda la vida.
